January 2022 Funding Our Future Update

January 20, 2022 — Happy new year! Many challenges persist in 2022, especially with the latest surge of COVID cases. It continues to be important to get vaccinated, boosted, tested, and to wear high-quality masks (like KN95 masks) in order to protect vulnerable members of our community. All households can now order free COVID tests through COVIDtests.gov.

HOUSING UPDATE

Earlier in January, Mayor Mendenhall addressed an affordable housing summit with state and local leaders, discussing innovative ways we can work together to provide housing solutions.

SAFETY UPDATE

Earlier this month, Mayor Mendenhall and the Salt Lake City Police Department provided an update on the City’s crime trends and released the patrol response times for December of 2021. Learn more here.

TRANSIT UPDATE

Time is running out to take the survey about the North Temple Mobility Hub—it closes January 25th! What should the building look like? What community space should it have—playground, art, connection to the Jordan River Trail? Tell us by going to northtemplemobilityhub.com.

STREETS UPDATE

On our 2021 street projects, we completed:
– 48,345 feet of sidewalk
– 4,100 feet of bike lanes
– 32,330 feet of road

We replaced:
– 14,371 feet of waterline + 7,776 feet of sewer line
