HOUSING UPDATE

On February 24th, City leaders celebrated the renovation of Salt Lake City’s historic Jackson Apartments, for which the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City (RDA) provided a $1 million loan. This project has ensured the preservation of 80 existing affordable housing units for the City’s elderly residents making 60% or less of the area median income as well as significant upgrades to the building including the restoration of the historic façade, unit updates, and improved ADA accessibility.

Also, Salt Lake City has launched Thriving in Place; this is Salt Lake City’s community-driven process to analyze and understand gentrification and displacement. Through this work we will develop a plan of action to address the factors that are forcing many of our friends, family members and neighbors to leave, or to live without a home, because they can’t find housing here that they can afford. Learn more and take the survey here.

SAFETY UPDATE
